Questar III and Capital Region BOCES

Questar III and Capital Region BOCES partnered to develop Tech Valley High School in 2007. Both BOCES also provide a wide-range of programs and services for students and school districts in their respective regions.

What is a BOCES?
BOCES are educational institutions created by New York State to help public schools provide services. BOCES stands for Board of Cooperative Educational Services, which operate as an extension of local school districts and the State Education Department. New York State is divided into 37 BOCES regions.

Although each BOCES is tailored to meet specific local educational needs, all of them are based on cooperation, coordination, interdependence and shared decision making as they provide services to school districts. Through BOCES, school districts can offer programs and services more economically, efficiently and equitably by sharing their costs.

Educators in school districts throughout New York also look to BOCES for reasonably priced assistance with their day-to-day operations while they focus on meeting state and federal demands for student performance.
