Study tours provide a perfect professional growth opportunity

02.03.10

The perfect opportunity for teachers and school administrators to learn about, and see, project-based learning in action will be offered later this month at Tech Valley High School.

The school will start a series of study tours on February 23 and continue them on March 24, April 28 and May 26.

The three-hour tours of TVHS - the only school of its kind in New York State - are designed for those interested in learning more about the school. The tours feature information on principles and practices followed at TVHS, as well as provide an opportunity for educators to observe TVHS faculty and staff in the classroom. A question-and-answer session with faculty, students and Principal Liebert follow.

Since TVHS serves as an incubator of sorts - attempting a new way of teaching the tools and skills necessary to succeed in 21st Century - the study tours are a way of giving back to the component districts and sharing what we TVHS faculty and administrators have learned, said Principal Dan Liebert.

The tours are free to faculty, staff and administrators of component Capital Region and Questar III BOCES schools.

A $25 per person fee is levied for those who take the tour from outside the region.
