More than 40 attend final regularly scheduled info session

02.05.10

The last in a series of regularly scheduled information sessions on Tech Valley High School on Thursday drew more than 40 prospective students.

The session - conducted at the East Greenbush-based regional public high school - drew prospective students from schools in six of the seven counties that TVHS draws students from.

"It was fabulous. A wonderful turnout," said Principal Dan Liebert, who credited the turnout on a combination of a strong desire on parents and students for a new challenge in terms of education and the large amount of attention paid to TVHS by leaders and the media in recent months.

Students will have one more opportunity to attend an information session - which is a requirement for applying to attend the regional public high school.

A make-up information session in Hudson for the session cancelled on January 28 will take place Tuesday, February 9 at the Hudson Junior High School. The school is located at 215 Harry Howard Avenue in the city.

All total, approximately 140 prospective eighth grade students have attended at least one of the six information sessions this year.

Still more seventh grade students and/or their parents have attended the sessions to learn about the school.

Information sessions provide an opportunity for students to learn more about TVHS, 21st Century Skills and project-based learning, which is the unique way TVHS prepares students for success in college and the modern workforce.
