A Troy business owner taught TVHS freshman about renewable energy during a Friday visit to the school.

In the latest lesson at TVHS that matched students with business executives, freshman in Leah Penniman's science class heard from the owner of the Empire Solar Store in Troy. Rodney Wiltshire spoke to students about renewable energy resources, such as the sun, and how current energy consumption in the world - if maintained at the current pace - would strip the world of its natural resources.

The guest speaker fit into the lesson on renewable energy resources and how they are being used to help in poor countries, such as Haiti, where solar power has helped to overcome the massive deforestation that has occurred there.
