02.16.10

Tech Valley High School wants to know how well its students are prepared for the real world. To do so,  it will be one of only 11 schools in the country that will administer a test specifically designed to gauge the success of schools that teach 21sty Century Skills through a pilot program offered by the New Tech Network.

Principal Dan Liebert said that every students will be administered the "College and Work Readiness Assessment" exam at a date to be determined this spring.

"We are giving to all students this year to establish a baseline - then just 9th and 12th grade students will be tested after that," he said.

He called the exam an "SAT" for 21st century skills."

Only 11 schools nationally are administering the exam in what he calls a pilot test for future years.

Counselor Dean Walker said no date has been set to administer the test, though the school must administer it before mid-April according to national rules for the exam.
