RPI doctoral students help TVHS students learn 'green' science

02.17.10
TVHS students are learning from doctoral students at RPI just how fuel cells function.
The freshman are working with a trio of RPI students on fuel cells, learning everything from how solar power can generate hydrogen that can be used to power a car to the various components of a fuel cell - the membranes, plates and platinum-carbon electrode.
The doctoral students are conducting workshops for the TVHS freshman and will help them to eventually create videos about the energy future of the country and the need to switch to renewable sources of energy.
The RPI students conducted a similar project with TVHS freshman last year.
