Powerful presentations a 21st century skill

02.26.10
A key 21st Century Skill is the ability to articulate a position well. As part of that, students at TVHS are taught how to speak in public and how to make an argument convincingly to groups of people.
To that end, students this year have taken part in debates and been coached on their debate skills by an expert from RPI. More recently, sophomores on Tuesday were taught by an expert in powerful presentations how to create PowerPoint presentations that deliver an exciting and powerful message while keeping the audience's attention.
Presenter Jaye Holly spoke for about an hour to the students and delivered examples on how to best package a message. Holly has previously taught these skills at the National Aquarium in Baltimore and at the University at Albany.
"It was interesting, I learned a lot," said one student.
