Monday information session draws a record turnout

01.26.10

A record 41 potential students turned out for the latest information session Monday on Tech Valley High School.

Students from Germantown and Catskill to Shenendehowa, Guilderland and Hoosick Falls attended the session at the regional public high school, which is located on the University at Albany East Campus. Twenty school districts in all were represented at the session.

"It was a phenomenal turnout," said TVHS Principal Dan Liebert.

The next session will be conducted Thursday, starting at 6 p.m. at the Hudson Junior/Senior High School. The school is located 15 Harry Howard Avenue in the City of Hudson.

A total of 85 students have attended at least one of the four information sessions conducted so far this year.

The sessions provide an opportunity for students to learn more about TVHS, 21st Century Skills and project-based learning, which is the unique way TVHS prepares students for success in college and the modern workforce.

“These sessions are great opportunities for students interested in TVHS to talk with current students, meet with faculty, and parents can discuss the school with current parents and have all of their questions about enrollment answered. We are thrilled to be able to welcome the class of 2014 and discuss our school with prospective students," said Liebert.

While the information sessions are geared to incoming freshmen, TVHS does have openings in its 10th and 11th grades and prospective students in those grades are welcome to attend the sessions to learn more.

Tech Valley High School is located at the University at Albany East Campus, B Wing, 9 University Place in East Greenbush.

Other sessions are scheduled for:

  • January 28, 2010, Hudson Junior/Senior High School, 215 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson

  • February 2, 2010, Scotia-Glenville High School, 1 Tartan Way in Scotia.
