TVHS students make Algebra interesting for Cohoes counterparts

03.01.10

A group of Tech Valley High School juniors hope to make learning Algebra more interesting and relevant for a class of ninth grade students in the Cohoes school district.

The students in TVHS' PhAT (Physics-Algebra-Trigonometry) are preparing a project for the freshmen in Cohoes that shows how Algebra can not only be interesting, but relevant to the "real world."

"The students are using Algebra 2/Trig and Physics concepts to show Integrated Algebra (high school) students how studying math can be interesting and applies to the real world," said TVHS teacher Michele Sweeny.

TVHS students will present their "Demonstrate It" project on Tuesday starting at 1:15 p.m. at Cohoes High School.
