03.05.10
This lesson is a hole in one for golf lovers.
Students in Jason Irwin's geometry class are detailing their miniature golf course designs in class this week and next in a project that piques students' interest in geometry by relating it to a fun activity.
Teams of students used over the last two weeks "geometric principles, logic and mathematical thinking" to create written and drawn proposals for a new miniature golf course.
Each group of students designed a course based on the theme of their choice that related to TVHS. The groups also created "a working drawing that shows the path that a ball would take to make a hole-in-one for each hole when banked off of one or more walls of the hole," Irwin said.
"It's a fun and unique way to get students thinking about geometry and how it relates to their every-day lives," said TVHS Principal Dan Liebert.
