A group of TVHS students, parents and representatives will learn about government in action as they descend on the state Capitol on Wednesday carrying a big message for lawmakers: TVHS is a viable alternative to the future of education in New York State.

Students Joe Chase,  from Greenville, Micaela Quinn, from Niskayuna, and Alysha Gagnon, from Cohoes, will meet with a series of local lawmakers throughout the day on Wednesday. They will be joined by Raona Roy, director for institutional advancement for TVHS, teacher Stacia Snow, parent Bill Ennist, Questar III District Superintendent Jim Baldwin and Dale Thuillez, vice president of the TVHS Foundation.

Roy said the group has scheduled 14 appointments with state officials on Wednesday, including meeting with Assembly Majority Leader Ron Canestrari and Chief Budget Examiner Lisa Timoney.

The students will discuss how TVHS is serving as an incubator for educators, teaching students 21st Century skills using project based learning and sharing what it learns with schools throughout the state. TVHS is the only regional public high school of its kind in New York State and one of about four-dozen in the country.
