Student DNA examined

Sophomores recently gathered and used their own DNA as they examined an age-old question.
With the guidance of researchers from Taconic Farms, the students collected DNA from each student's cheek using a solution the students created. The solution was swished in their mouths of each student who then spit it back into Dixie cups. From the cups, the students were able to locate DNA strands that floated to the top of the solution.
Science teacher Leah Penniman said the lab allowed the students to see actual DNA strands and helped them as they researched a larger project question: Are humans still evolving?
The answer to that question is found in DNA strands.
