School meals will continue to be available to all students, including those attending school in-person and those learning remotely.
For information about how meal information will be communicated, visit the Communication/Family and Community Engagement section of our reopening plan.
For students onsite, meals will be provided while maintaining appropriate social distancing between students. Students do not need to wear face coverings when seated and eating as long as they are appropriately socially distanced and being respectful of their peers and teachers.
Tech Valley High School will ensure social distancing between individuals while eating in their classrooms by adult supervision in the classroom. Proper cleaning and disinfection will occur.
The sharing of food and beverages (e.g., buffet style meals, snacks) is prohibited, unless individuals are members of the same household. Adequate space will be reserved for students, faculty, and staff to observe social distancing while eating meals.
Students will either bring their meals from home and get it out of their backpack or have the school lunch option that will be delivered to the classroom by a Capital Region Food Service Worker that will follow applicable health and safety guidelines. The nurse and food service will work to protect students with food allergies while eating in the classroom.
Students will perform hand hygiene before and after eating following the guidelines put forth from the CDC Guidelines.
The Capital Region BOCES will ensure compliance with Child Nutrition Program requirements. If parents have any questions about the free/reduced application process/program etc. please contact Claire Groudine at 518-862-4937.
Students who are learning remotely will be able to access meals from their home school district. If this is needed please reach out to your home district school site coordinator. This is usually found on your school’s webpage. If you have difficulty, please contact administration.
