Please join us for our annual TVHS Ice Cream Social held at Tawasentha Park in Guilderland in the large pavillion on Thursday, August 21 from 5PM-6:30PM. Families are welcome! The Ice Cream Social is a great time for students to reconnect and new students and families to get to know the TVHS community. We look forward to seeing you there!

We welcome 9th grade students for the first day of school on Thursday, September 4. All students return on Friday, September 5. Please remember to fill out and return the waiver for Thacher Park, it is required for our joint staff-student volunteer event during school on September 5. You can submit the waiver digitally or in person at the Ice Cream Social. On the waiver, please write the TVHS student’s name, not the parent name.

School Day: School hours for TVHS are 7:50am-2:50pm. Students are able to enter the building and gather in the MPR prior to 7:50am. We serve breakfast during that time. After school, there will be extra help scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:00-3:50. Students should be picked up promptly at 3:50. If students are dropped off in the morning or picked up after school, cars should park in the lot across from school. The loop is for school buses only.

Transportation: Transportation to and from TVHS is arranged by the individual school district. We strongly encourage parents to communicate with your home district’s transportation department to verify pick up time and location. Please let us know if there are any issues.

Attendance: Being present and on time sets a student up for success. If your child will be late or absent, please call or email the school with the reason for the absence by 8:30am. Parents can email attendance@techvalleyhigh.org. If a student is ill, we encourage them to recuperate at home. We are required to send a letter home at intervals when a student is absent starting at 10 days absent.

School Lunch: At Tech Valley, we use Capital Region BOCES Food Services Program. Breakfast and lunch are free for all students. Students are required to pre-order their lunch. A link is sent out weekly. Additional items are available for purchase. Information about menus and payments will be updated soon and you will receive a communication when it is available. It will also be posted on our website.

Annual Forms: Please use the link in the email to access our annual forms and complete prior to the first day of school. This information needs to be updated each year. The acceptable use form must be signed and returned before your child receives their TVHS computer. It is expected by the first day of school. The field work form will allow for students to go on day trips connected to their class. Parents will receive communication from the teacher prior to any trips.

Digital Access to Student Information
Assignments and grades can be accessed through Echo. Schedules and Report Cards are available on SchoolTool. Student schedules will be posted on SchoolTool on Tuesday, September 2. If you would like to request a paper copy of your report card, please contact our office. For Echo access issues, please email Dr. Hawrylchak. For SchoolTool access, please email Q3SchoolTool@questar.org

Personal Device Policy: Following the state law that was recently passed, TVHS has adopted a policy regarding student personal internet-enabled devices. All devices must be stored in a TVHS-provided container during the school day. A summary of the policy is attached. Please reach out should you have any questions.

Parent Activities Committee (PAC) – PAC Meets monthly and plans events to support students and bring our families together. Check out the links below with information about an Apparel Sale and upcoming events. The August meeting will be held virtually at 7PM on Tuesday, August 12.

Stay connected! PAC information is sent out via email from the school, posted on Facebook and also through the Band app. Details are in the Welcome Letter linked above.

We hope you enjoy the remainder of the summer! Please reach out should you have any questions.
